Biography
Jimmy Kennedy is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Indianapolis. Jimmy earned a Bachelor's degree in communication, emphasizing electronic media in May of 2017. This concentration focuses on radio and television studies within media.
While at UIndy, Jimmy contributed to WICR-FM as part of their sports department serving as a play-by-play commentator, color analyst, and studio reporter. Finally, Jimmy contributed as a WICR staff member by providing voiceover work for commercial spots, producing talk/sports programming, publishing content on various social media platforms for station branding, and as an account executive for the sales department.
Jimmy also contributed to UIndy's on-campus television station UIndy TV5. Jimmy wrote, produced and edited sports/news packages for air. Jimmy also served UIndy TV5 as a play-by-play commentator and color analyst for live sports remote broadcasts during football and basketball season. Jimmy concluded his time with UIndy TV5 by serving as part of the engineering department. With this department, Jimmy assisted with broadcast setup, troubleshooting equipment and building cables for use in various productions.
Jimmy has also served the Indianapolis Colts as a team correspondent on the WTTV program Colts Up Close, where he provided analysis on team activities including upcoming games and the NFL Draft. Jimmy also served the Colts for four seasons as a sideline communication staff member. His duties included serving as an on field liaison to media members to improve communication to and from press box during home games.
Following graduation, Jimmy joined Cumulus Media in Indianapolis as part of their programming department. He produced and edited both local and syndicated Westwood One programming for air. Jimmy also produced live remote broadcasts for the station cluster and created radio imaging production spots for air.
From July of 2018 to February 2019, Jimmy served as the producer of The Kent Sterling Show on CBS Sports 1430 AM in Indianapolis. Jimmy produced and coordinated sports talk programming content with the host, as well as scheduled upcoming interviews. Finally, Jimmy served the show as an on-air talent day to day.
Jimmy returned to Cumulus Media as a staff member after their merger with Entercom Communications in Indianapolis during March of 2019, staying with them until July of 2019.
He launched his own podcast, JBK On Air in June of 2020 interviewing a wide range of media professionals, comedians, entertainers, and public figures. Jimmy continues to write, produce and edit his own content including comedic bits and blogs distributing it all onto multiple social media platforms.
Jimmy served as the executive producer for season one of the The Noel Casler Podcast which premiered in March of 2021. He worked with the host to write, produce, and edit show content for distribution onto multiple podcasting platforms. Jimmy served as an on-air talent too, helping to create conversational banter on the show.
Jimmy produced and edited the podcast into concise clips ideal for driving social media traffic. These clips were distributed onto multiple social media platforms with an audience of more than 360,000 followers. Jimmy was responsible for the design, layout, and functionality of all audio and video content with the show.
In his time as EP, the show generated more than 300,000 total downloads over a 51-week season, averaging more than 5,800 weekly downloads. Jimmy grew his client's social media following by more than 60,000 users over the 51-week season, ending in February 2022. Finally, Jimmy designed swag items (coffee cups, hats, t-shirts) to further promote show branding.
Jimmy, who has Cerebral Palsy, has been a public speaker with the non-profit organization Timmy Global Health since 1999. Through his presentations to schools, businesses, and organizations, Jimmy attempts to promote an initiative of ability rather than disability.
